BB Month : What say you!

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

1st of July 06′. BB month is officially launched

BB Month is actually the month where the entire company members, not only the boys but the officers working together to raise funds for the company. As for First Klang, the money we get is for us to subsidies some boys, paying for our awards, and more importantly, to strengthen our band. We have competed in the band competition at Pesta, and this showed that we are a company with potential to get to the top in future.  Apart from this, we will use the money from BB month for our recruitment drive next year in order to get new members in. Our target of 111 members is to be fulfilled.

There will be luxury prizes given away for top individuals BB Month collections for the best squad BB Month collections.
For members that succeed in achieving more than RM 300 will get to go to the year-end camp which will be held in Tapah for absolutely FREE!

The dateline of BB Month is the 12th of August. Everyone gave in their cards. Some has below RM100, some above RM 300 and some even above RM 600. All of them worked hard for the company. Many of them tried to be the top collector, hitting more than their target mark. Some worked hard for their squad, especially the officers. Some of them hand in more than 1k!

As for me, I passed my target of RM 300 and tried hard to be the top collector as well as helping my squad, Squad 2 to be the top collector. What I have realized is that many of us worked hard to gain money for the company; hoping to get new instruments. I know some of the members are hoping to get a xylophone, which would be something interesting for our band but it all depends on the band instructor.

On 11th August, I did a lot of last minute collection. I asked for donation from a ex-BB boy. He scribbled RM 0.01 at my BB Month card and gave me the 1-cent. That really angered me but what can i do? Can action be taken for this or treat it as a joke?

12th of August, dateline day. Most of the members gave in their cards. Some of them left their cards at home. My squad officer, W/O Gun is willing to go to member’s house
to collect the cards from them. He wants us to be the top collecting squad.

Well, this year, our company has collected more than RM 3500, which is more than how much we collected last year. It is a great achievement. Now, for those who have already collected more than RM300, go pack up for your end-year camp!

ENROLMENT DAY SERVICE

This is how it begins; it started well and ended well too. The main plan was delayed because of the traffic, which caused the VIP to arrive late. The service started off with the marching in of the colours, which was received by the 1st Klang chaplain and accompanied by our own W.O Peter.

The First Klang Guards of Honour

As we entered the church hall, the church members led a great session of praise and worship. After that, a sermon with the theme ‘Making our dreams come true’ was given by Pastor Woo; it was quite boring but luckily there were lots of people who managed to stay awake and listened to his speech.

The marching in of the Colour

Our Captain, Sir Terrence Tan welcomed the guests, parents, church members, and BB member from 2nd Subang Jaya, 1st Petaling Jaya and 4th Petaling Jaya Companies. Mr. Eric Lim, the National Brigade Secretary also gave a speech during this occasion as well as Mr. Tay Book Guan who is the Selangor State Council President.

Then came the highlight of the day where all the 1st Klang members were waiting for, that is ‘PROMOTION’. But before that, two members were discharged due to age limits. They were Cpl Leshvinraj and Sergeant Khoo Hau Wei. Then the promotion from private to NCO was given. There were no promotions for the Form 2’s though. Not to forget about the awards for the best recruit, highest scorer in the target test, and the best NCO whereby the higher ranking you are, the more work you should do.

Following was the Enrolment pledge of the officers of the company followed by the NCOs and finally the rest of the company.

Next was the speech by the discharge members, it seems that Mr Leshvinraj and Mr Khoo Hau Wei had taken their time to tell their story which had bought some time for the dancers to change. The dance proceeded without any disturbance. Then the junior choir, they sang their song without feeling shy. Here comes the 1st Klang band, we keep on practising and eventually improved our band performance.

We received a lot of praises for our band. But we will continue to improve because we are the next generation. We are now one step closer to be the best, may the lord bless us and help us grow.
