Well I have been joining BB for the past 2 years now. I knew about it since the recruitment drive when I was at Form 1. I wasn’t really interested at that time as I was a Pengakap, and I thought it was all the same, boring thing.. Even on the first day, Alan Tan, who was Form 2 at that time asked me to join this BB. I feel that spending about 6 hours on a curricular activity is really a waste of time. Many people has been asking me to join BB but I refused.

Then one day I decide to take a look at BB. A friend of mine (Sharmraaj) keeps bugging me to go. The first day was indeed fun. I knew what they do there weekly. That’s when I meet my first squad leader, Alex (I was at squad 2). Very nice person that I met. Then I met Huei Tat, someone I know too who was in squad 1. The first officer I met was Win Sun (who was a seargeant) who was incharge of the devotion thing on the first day. Then Kevin introduced me and some other newcomers about BB with the handbook, telling us about BB history and stuff

Then after a few months, there was this Sel Games in ACS. Got the silver medal (lost 7-2 to the first team in the final). I can’t really remember but I know many people quit already at that time including a Lance Chopral I think…

Well, then I took my first target exam. Kevin was the one incharge for it. I remember when  he test us on the anchor song. I can’t sing. So, the thing that I do was mumble ( trying to follow the person next to me). Bharath very semangat at that time. Sing until damn good …

When the results come out, of course I failed ( didn’t even study). Most of them passed. I did nothing the whole year after that(as no Target, no badges). That was a real waste.
Then, last year, when I was at Form 3. I took the test again. this time i studied for it real hard. I got top scorer for the Target. didn’t even think or guessed.

Before that, there was the Sel Games again in Ampang. I got screwed up by Win Sun even before I played as i went to watch the Captain ball by those Juniors. When I went in( that was the match against 2nd Subang I think), I scored with the first touch of my ball when Peter crossed it to me from central mid.( That’s my skill, not "am kong"). A volley.

Until today, I still feel that BB is very interesting. First of all, I meet new faces, become more discipline and most of all, I learned what fun really is. I don’t feel spending 6 hours on BB is bad after all. It is just not what I think.

Learn and Earn

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

Chuan and Jing joined a wholesale company together just after graduation. Both worked very hard.

After several years, the boss promoted Jing to sales executive but Chuan remained a sales rep. One day Chuan could not take it anymore, tender resignation to the boss and complained the boss did not value hard working staff, but only promoted those who flattered him.

The boss knew that Chuan worked very hard for the years, but in order to help Chuan realise the difference between him and Jing, the boss asked Chuan to do the following. Go and find out anyone selling water melon in the market? Chuan returned and said yes. The boss asked how much per kg? Chuan went back to the market to ask and returned to inform boss the $12 per kg.

Boss told Chuan, I will ask Jing the same question? Jing went, returned and said, boss, only one person selling water melon. $12 per kg, $100 for 10 kg, he has inventory of 340 melons. On the table 58 melons, every melon weighs about 15 kg, bought from the South two days ago, they are fresh and red, good quality.

Chuan was very impressed and realised the difference between himself and Jing. He decided not to resign but to learn from Jing.

My dear friends, a more successful person is more observant, think more and understand in depth. For the same matter, a more successful person sees several years ahead, while you see only tomorrow. The difference between a year and a day is 365 times, how could you win?

Think! how far have you seen ahead in your life? How thoughtful in depth are you?

The Chicken

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Once upon a time, there was a large mountainside, where an eagle’s nest
rested. The eagle’s nest contained four large
eagle eggs. One day an earthquake rocked the mountain causing one of the
eggs to roll down the mountain, to a
chicken farm, located in the valley below. The chickens knew that they must
protect and care for the eagle’s egg, so an
old hen volunteered to nurture and raise the large egg.

One day, the egg hatched and a beautiful eagle was born. Sadly, however,
the eagle was raised to be a chicken. Soon,
the eagle believed he was nothing more than a chicken. The eagle loved his
home and family, but his spirit cried out for
more. While playing a game on the farm one day, the eagle looked to the
skies above and noticed a group of mighty
eagles soaring in the skies. "Oh," the eagle cried, "I wish I could soar
like those birds." The chickens roared with
laughter, "You cannot soar with those birds. You are a chicken and chickens
do not soar."

The eagle continued staring, at his real family up above, dreaming that he
could be with them. Each time the eagle
would let his dreams be known, he was told it couldn’t be done. That is
what the eagle learned to believe. The eagle,
after time, stopped dreaming and continued to live his life like a chicken.
Finally, after a long life as a chicken, the
eagle passed away.

The moral of the story: You become what you believe you are; so if you ever
dream to become an eagle follow your
dreams, not the words of a chicken.

Comfort Zone

Friday, January 27th, 2006

I use to have a Comfort Zone
Where I knew I couldn’t fail
The same four walls of busy work
Were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things
I’d never done before,
But I stayed inside my Comfort Zone
And paced the same old floor

I said it didn’t matter,
That I wasn’t doing much
I said I didn’t care for things
Like diamonds, furs and such

I claimed to be so busy
With the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for
Something special of my own.

I couldn’t let my life go by,
Just watching others win.
I held my breath and stepped outside
And let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength
I’d never felt before,
I kissed my Comfort Zone "goodbye"
And closed and locked the door.

If you are in a Comfort Zone,
Afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were
At one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise,
Can make your dreams come true.
Greet your future with a smile,
Success is there for you!

Have you ever step into a whole new atmosphere and encounter a total
bunch of new people, but at the same time feel like home.(the feeling
where you know you are safe, and you know you will just click in like
the back of your own hands.

Well I still can remember during my elementary schooling days.
Well there is a guy in school by the name Hau Wei whom I knew since
standard one whom first came up to me. He kept on pestering me to join
a uniform organization. Well it was kinda odd for me at first cause
from all person why me. Well maybe it was a call of faith. So being  a
good friend I bowed down to his persistence.

So here the story or in my words my ride of my life started to
kick off. Finding for the venue was a piece of cake for any Indian
cause it was jus located beside an Indian temple.

As I step in the school I began to have second thoughts. Well at
first my adrenaline began to pump as well as the hair on my spine
started to stand. To my surprise I was greeted warmth this guy by the
name Hong Ee(sorry if I spelled his name wrongly). Well I was
introduced to the junior section where I meet some familiar faces.
There was Hau Wei in his shorts smiling in the corner, while Alex and
Christopher(an ex member) were welcoming me in open arms. Well I felt
no more a stranger. I also got to meet up with an old friend whom I
knew since standard one( Melvin ku).well lets me put it this way, it
was a place where I meet with a lot of people,

Well since then I had a lot of fun. I even had a chance to play
Jr. soccer at my first year. For your information we got bronze.

Well joining BB is like a profiting investment. Here you will
invest your time in something worthwhile. I no more feel indolent nor
inadequate. I began to know how to develop myself,to think critically,
analytically and not forgetting logically. At BB I am able to exercise
my leadership. Well I am what I am now because of BB.

I can bet with you  there is no place in the whole wide world
where you can have fun, have the up’s and down of the facts of life and
to learn essential skills that money cant buy.

BB is in the blood.BB rox and I will never turn my back after BB.
As for our companies vision to have 111 members I think that is
possible if we put our hearts together.

BB is not a cliche but a religion that you and I live in.

Ck_1

I have been joining BB for a period of
time, and I can only say this is the Best. It is the best uniform body compared
to the other youth movements. I was just an ordinary boy when I was first join
BB in year 2003.

Throughout the years in BB, after all the hard times and sweet
memories that we have been together, I felt that I’m no longer a young boy. I
can feel that everyone is growing up and improving for good.

I am myself
today thanks to BB. I’m once lost but now I’ve found the right direction ahead.
Thanks to the founder of this organization. I constantly discover something new
for myself throughout my BB life. So there are no reasons for me to regret for
joining the Boys’ Brigade.

However there
are some people who joined BB and quit. Maybe some of them are having problems but
for those that are giving excuses like BB is boring and torturing then I can
only call them as a FAILURE. Why? Because they are so weak that they can’t stand
it. That’s why BB members are built tough and strong. Today, all I can
experience is that BB is not boring and on the other hand, we are having all
the fun activities and can be able to mix around and make new friends. There
are no other uniform bodies like us because the others could not have the bonding
like we do. The entire Boys’ Brigade members are so close to each other.

BB members
appear more confident than the others too! Besides that, Boys’ Brigade also
producing genius and talented people. There are so many BB members that do well
in their exams. We got a number of school prefects joining BB. We got officers
studying on laws, medicine and sports. That is why BB is different from the
others.

To those who
haven’t join BOYS’ BRIGADE, you can do so. We have meeting every Saturday  2.30PM at MHS . I can promise you that you will never
regret joining us.

YOU or ME??? ME or YOU??? It’s the Company…

                              FIRST KLANG BB

                                                                        or

                                          ME

During world war 2, when Britain
was experiencing the darkest days, the country had a diffucult time
keeping man and women in the coal mines. Many wanted to give up their
dirty, thankless jobs in the dangerous mines to join the military
service, which garnered much public praise and support. Yet their work
in the mines was critical to the success of the war. Without coal the
military and the people at home would be in trouble.
        So the
prime minister faced thousands of coal miners one day and told them of
their importance to the war effort, how their role could make or break
the goal of maintaining England’s freedom.
        Churchill painted
a picture of what it would be like when the war ended, of the grand
parade that would honour the people who fought the war. First would
come the sailors of the navy, he said the people who continued the
tradition of Trafalgar and the defeat of the Spain Armada. Next would
come the best and brightest of Britain, the pilots of the Royal Air
Force who fended off the German Luftwaffe. Following them would be the
soldiers who had fought at Dunkirk.
        Then last of all would
come the coal-dust-covered men in miners’ caps. And Churchill indicated
that someone from the crowd might say,"And where were you during the
critical days of the struggle?" And the voices of ten thousand men
would respond, "We were deep in the earth with our faces to the coal."
It’s said that tears appeared in the eyes of those hardened men.
And they return to their inglorious work with steely resolve, having
been reminded of the role they were playing in their country’s noble
goal of preservating freedom for the Western world.

    That’s
the kind of mindset it takes to have a good team. It takes the courage
and the resolve to recognise that the goal is more important than the
role
. It’s no small thing for people to do what’s best for the team.
Often it means sacrificing personal satisfaction, individual
statistics, or personal glory.
"Everybody on a champion team doesn’t get publicity, but everyone can say he’s a champion."

Think about it.. Can You See The Big Picture of the Company? Is your role more important than the Goal? or Is the Goal more important than your role? It’s in your hand.. Think.. Act.. & Change…
